Claire Marlowe Whistles in to Neverland
West End actress Claire Marlowe – who played the leading role of Swallow in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Whistle Down the Wind at the Palace Theatre in London – has joined the cast of Peter Pan, this year’s Christmas show at the White Rock Theatre, Hastings.

Claire, who has just finished a national tour of Half a Sixpence, will play Wendy Darling – the young girl whisked off by Peter Pan to Neverland.

She joins Former S Club singer and international superstar Jon Lee who is Peter Pan and St Leonards’ resident and popular comedy actor Steve Furst who is Pirate Smee; West End actor Stephen McGlynn – Bert in the London production of Mary Poppins – who has been press-ganged into joining the pirate crew of the Jolly Roger as Starkey; Audrey Leybourne, who will play the Grandmother who narrates the story of Peter Pan; and  Neil Brennan who is reprising his role as the dastardly Captain Hook.

They are joined by Debbie Leigh-Simmons and Olivia Chenery from the internationally-acclaimed Shakespeare 4 Kidz Theatre Company. Debbie, who is currently on tour with S4K’s Romeo and Juliet – The Musical playing the Nurse, will play Mrs Darling; and Olivia who appeared as Ariel in S4K’s The Tempest and Ophelia in S4K’s Hamlet is playing the fairy Tinker Bell.

Ticket sales for the production at the White Rock continue to hit new peaks, running at over twice the level seen in the previous five years, with the six schools performances already two-thirds full and the four Office Christmas Party Nights starting to sell strongly too.

Peter Pan producer Julian Chenery, speaking at the second launch day for the show, from on board one of the Peter Pan buses said: “We’re extremely lucky to have brought together such a high quality cast for this year’s Hastings Christmas show. Every single member of our cast is capable of head-lining a show in their own right.”

“As well as our highly talented – and very funny – troupe of experienced West End actors, we have recruited singers and dancers from Laine Theatre Arts, one of the UK’s top stage schools. All of them are looking forward to working with the talented young actors from the local Hastings area who will play John and Michael Darling, and of course the Lost Boys.”

Tickets are available from the White Rock Theatre Box Office on 01424 462288 and further information can be found on a dedicated website at www.peterpanhastings.com.

“It’s a very exciting time for the White Rock Theatre and I’m convinced Peter Pan will be the best Hastings Christmas for years,” says JC,
