West End Stars Join Peter Pan As Ticket Sales Soar
West End actor Stephen McGlynn – who played Bert in the London production of Mary Poppins – has been added to the pirate crew of the Jolly Roger in Peter Pan, this year’s Christmas show at the White Rock Theatre, Hastings.

Stephen, who has also appeared in the West End productions of Crazy for You, Mamma Mia, Les Miserables and The Witches of Eastwick, has most recently been seen as Cogsworth in the touring production of Beauty and the Beast.

Another veteran West End actress, Audrey Leybourne, who has appeared in Me and My Girl, Crazy For You and My Fair Lady will play the Grandmother who narrates the story of Peter Pan.

Neil Brennan is reprising his role as the dastardly Captain Hook.

They are joined by Debbie Leigh-Simmons and Olivia Chenery from the internationally-acclaimed Shakespeare 4 Kidz Theatre Company. Debbie, who is currently on tour with S4K’s Romeo and Juliet – The Musical playing the Nurse, will play Mrs Darling; and Olivia who appeared as Ariel in S4K’s The Tempest and Ophelia in S4K’s Hamlet is playing the fairy Tinker Bell.

Ticket sales for the production at the White Rock have soared and are currently running at over twice the level seen in the previous five years.

Peter Pan producer Julian Chenery, who is also the creative force behind Shakespeare 4 Kidz and as “JC” is one-half of the new production team for this year’s Hastings show said “We are delighted that the people of East Sussex are getting behind this show. When it was first produced in Croydon it was a five-star smash and since then we’ve made even more improvements to the production.”

“Not only do we have a highly talented – and very funny – troupe of experienced West End actors, but also singers and dancers from Laine Theatre Arts, one of the UK’s top stage schools, as well as local young talent from the Hastings area who will play John and Michael Darling, and of course the Lost Boys.”

Former S Club singer and international superstar Jon Lee is Peter Pan and comedy actor Steve Furst – who lives in St Leonards on Sea – is Pirate Smee.

Tickets are available from the White Rock Theatre Box Office on 0870 145 1133 and further information can be found on a dedicated website at www.peterpanhastings.com.

“It’s going to be the best Christmas show in Hastings for years,” says JC  “So get Hooking your booking if you want to make sure of the best seats!”
